Saif Khan hospitalised in Malaysia

Saif Khan, who is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for an ad shoot, today underwent a successful operation for appendicitis at a hospital here.

The actor underwent the operation at the Gleneagles Hospital after he complained of acute abdominal pain during the shoot of a commercial.

Sources at the hospital say Saif's condition after the emergency operation is satisfactory.

Shahrukh hat einen eher ausgefallenen Geschmack an Humor. Bringt er dich damit nicht manchmal in unangenehme Situationen?
Sehr oft sogar. Als wir geheiratet haben und meine Familie ihn noch nicht so gut kannte, mache er sehr gewöhnungsbedürftige Witze und stoß meinen armen Eltern damit vor den Kopf. Als er meine Mutter das erste Mal traf, nannte er sie „sexy“. Meine Mutter bekam den Schock ihres Lebens. Heute sind es zwei Jahre, in denen Sie versucht ihn dazu zu bekommen, sie Ma, Mama, alles außer „sexy“ zu nennen. Aber er beharrt darauf, sie „sexy“ zu nennen.

Meine Mutter kennt ihn jetzt. Aber wenn da jemand wie Deanne´s Modellfreunde sind, die nur Bekannte sind, wird es peinlich. Wie z. B. als er das erste mal Madhu Sapre traf. Shahrukh war ihr kaum vorgestellt und witzelte schon: „Hi Madhu. Madhu Sapre – hat nicht besonders viele an.“ Oft starb ich fast vor Verlegenheit. Kürzlich gingen wir auf eine Party und hinter den Rücken der Gäste imitierte er ihren Gang, ihre Gespräche, etc. Oh, seine Mimiken sind perfekt, aber es sind die falschen Momente, in denen er sie macht.

Was ist das netteste, das er je bisher getan hat?
Einmal als wir bei meinen Freunden Shivani und Sanbina waren, erklärte Shahrukh: „Wir sind doch hier auf einer Verlobungsparty.“ Da war eine Kiste und drin war ein hässlicher grüner Plastikring mit Blumen drauf. Er sagte, ich solle meine Augen schließen und gab ihn mir in die Hand. Als ich meine Augen öffnete war ich so geschockt, dass es mir die Sprache verschlug. Das war dann wohl unsere Verlobungsparty.

Denkst du er wäre jetzt ein anderer Mensch, wenn er nicht so erfolgreich geworden wäre?
Er ist immer so wie jetzt. Bei Leuten, die er nicht kennt ist er schüchtern und introvertiert. Aber wenn er die Person kennen gelernt hat oder auf die eine Sache vertraut ist er wirklich offen. Ich denke nicht, dass er anders wäre.

Er ist wie eine Person, die unendliche Reserven an Energie hat – fast wie ein Superheld. Wie kommst du damit klar?
Manchmal denke ich, ich sollte ihn mehr zurück halten. Immer wenn er nach Hause kommt ist er so begeistert von allem. Es ist so: „Komm schon, lass uns ausgehen. Lass uns dies oder das tun. Lass uns Chikki anrufen. Lass uns Videospiele spielen.“ Gerade wenn er 2 oder 3 Tage am Stück nicht geschlafen hat, ist er voller Enthusiasmus. Auch an den Sets ist er so. Er sagt dem Director „Lass uns das tun“. Der Director ist müde, aber er sagt „Lasst uns weiter filmen“. Wenn dann trotzdem nichts passiert hilft er den Personen. Er selbst kann nie lange an einer Stelle stehen. Wenn Shahrukh etwas tut, dann mit ganzem Herzen.

Wenn er zu Hause ist, ist er anders als draußen. Er sagte, er würde niemals ein Glas heben, wenn er zu Hause ist. Sobald er allerdings draußen ist, ist er voller Energie. Er kann 24 Stunden schlafen, wenn er aufwacht will er nur Tee. Er ist ein Extremist. Wenn er etwas anfängt, möchte er es am liebsten für den Rest seines Lebens tun. Irgendwie ist es gut, dass er soviel Energie in Extraarbeit steckt, denn wenn er nach Hause kommt, ist er richtig relaxt.

Tatsache ist, heute ist Shahrukh sehr erfolgreich. Aber wenn er morgen versagt, wirst du es akzeptieren können?
Grundlegend kann ich mich mit einem Versagen von Shahrukh nicht anfreunden. Die, die nicht über seine Vergangenheit Bescheid wissen, denken wahrscheinlich, wenn sie ihn sehen/treffen, dass er nur glücklich ist. Aber ich kenne Shahrukh nun schon sehr lange. Er hat immer versucht sein Bestes zu geben, beim Sport, beim Zeichnen, etc. Selbst wenn er einen Film beendet hat, ob er nun Erfolg hat oder floppt. Es ist nicht die Ehefrau die aus mir spricht, es ist nur eine objektive Feststellung.

Ich denke, es dauert noch ein oder zwei Jahre, bis die Leute realisieren was er wirklich ist. Alles in Allem kann er nicht erfolgreicher sein als er es im Moment ist.

Bevorzugen Sie es vor der Heirat umworben zu werden oder moegen Sie lieber im nachhinein romantische Zweisamkeit?
Früher zogen wir es vor uns ausserhalb zu treffen und nun treffen wir uns zu Hause. Er ist beschützender worden nach der Hochzeit. Früher wusste er, dass ich bei meinen Eltern war. Aber heute, wenn ich die Stadt verlasse, muss ich jedes Detail nieder schreiben. Ich gehe nach Dubhai und er möchte, das ich ein Handy mitnehme, damit er mich jede halbe Stunden anrufen kann. Er möchte solche verrückten Dinge tun wie diese.

Teil 2

Wie bringt er sich in deine Arbeit, dein Tanzen und alles ein?
Seit ich dieses Interesse am Tanzen habe, hält er sich daraus. Genau wie ich mich aus seiner Schauspielerei. Ich zeige im auch kein überschwengliches Interesse an seiner Arbeit. Ich habe mich niemals mit Schauspielerei auseinandergesetzt. Auch nicht in der Schule oder am College. Ich habe niemals einen Baum in einem Schulstück mitgemacht.

Shahrukh wurde zu einer sehr leidenschaftlichen Person. Er ist sehr leidenschaftlichen in allem was in plagt. Ich denke die ganze Erschütterung ist weil er von der Filmindustrie ist und jetzt ist er so gewissenhaft gegenüber seiner Frau. Ihre Männer setzten nicht voraus, monogam zu leben. Aber Shahrukh ist kein Filmi (?). Er ist wie jeder andere Mann der seine Ehefrau sehr liebt. Ich bin sicher, dass es Männer gibt, die ihre Frau intensiver lieben. Shahrukh hat das Steckenpferd der Schauspielerei. Ich bin froh dass er nicht einer der Starehemänner ist die nicht gewissenhaft gegenüber ihrer Frauen sind.

Wie vertraut bist du mit seinen Schauspielerkolleginnen(Heldinnen)?
Obwohl ich sie bisher nur zweimal getroffen habe, finde ich Madhuri sehr warmherzig. Wir sind einmal zum Dinner bei Juhi gegangen, aber ich kenne sie nicht wirklich gut. Ich kann sehr gut mit Kajol. Als wir in London waren, haben Tanuja, Shilpa Shetty, Kajol und ich wirklich viel Zeit mit Spielen und allem verbracht.

Was für eine Beziehung führen deine Eltern heute mit Shahrukh?
Jetzt haben sie in akzeptiert. Und sind sehr zufrieden mit meiner Wahl. Nicht nur weil er so einfühlsam ist, sondern auch weil er mich so glücklich macht. Abgesehen davon wurden sie eine Miniberühmtheit in Dehli. Du weißt, die Leute kennen Sie nur als Shahrukhs Schwiegervater und Schwiegermutter.

Hast du deinen Nachnamen nach der Hochzeit geändert? Shahrukh erzählte mir, dass Khan eigentlich Häuptling heißt, also ist die Frau vom Khan offensichtlich seine Khanum!
Ich habe meinen Nachnamen nach der Hochzeit geändert. Diese Kahnum-Sache meinte er nicht ernst. Er muss mal wieder einen seiner Witze gemacht haben. Für meine Freunde bin ich einfach G. C. und für Shahrukh bin ich einfach Gauri Maa.

Hast du vor, eine Filmkarriere zu beginnen?
Nicht mal in meinen Träumen. Manche kommen zu mir mit einem absurden Angebot neben Shahrukh zu spielen. Wenn ich dann Ignoranz vorheuchle sagen Sie: „Koi baat nahin hai, tohda naach gana hi karna hai.“

Was hast du gefühlt, als du ihn das erste Mal in Fauji gesehen hast?
Nun, ich fühlte mich verdammt seltsam. Du kennst den Jungen mit dem ich ging, war auf diesem kleinen Bildschirm in meinem Haus. Aber heute finde ich sieht er am besten aus in Fauji mit seinem Tom Cruise Schnitt. Es gibt Momenten in den ich denke, ich sollte zu dem gleichen Schnitt zurückkehren. Aber er wurde bekannt, er denkt lange Haare sind Kult und lassen ihn besser aussehen.

Welche Erfahrungen hast du mit seinen Fans gemacht?
Seit den Fauji Tagen wurde er gemoppt. Aber einer der schlimmsten Erfahrungen hatte ich Neu Jahr im letzen Jahr, als ein paar Anhänger zu unserem Auto kamen und begannen das gesamte Auto zu schütteln weil sie in einmal anfassen wollten. Ich war wie versteinert.

Nein, ich vermisse die Nachspaziergänge am Strand nicht.

Mit all den Fans um ihn herum, wurdest du jemals in den Hintergrund geschoben?
Generell wenn ich irgendwo mit Shahrukh hingehe lässt er niemals meine Hand los Oder er muss die Sicherheit haben, dass ich bei Deanne oder Chikki bin. Denn er weiß, wenn noch mal so etwas vorkommt, gehe ich aus dem Raum und er weiß dann nicht wo er mich finden kann. Gefasst von dem Element der Angst denke ich, das er mich zu sehr liebt, sodass er mir nicht erlaubt auch nur einen Moment von seiner Seite zu weichen.

Die ehemalige Diva Sridevi und der regierende König Shahrukh Khan sind Bollywoods bestgekleidete Persönlichkeiten, sagt Stardesigner Manish Malhotra

Der Mann, der von einem Bollywood Garderobier zu einem Vollzeit-Modedesigner und jetzt zu einem aufstrebenden Filmregisseur geworden ist, sagt, dass die beiden ein gutes Beispiel abgeben, wie man sich gut anzuziehen hat.

"Sridevi ist meine Lieblingsschauspielerin in Bezug auf den Kleidungsstil. Ich habe mit meiner Arbeit bei ihr angefangen und so viel von ihr gelernt. Abseits von ihrem Dasein als eine der besten Schauspielerinnen, hat sie auch eine Menge Ahnung von Kostümen.", erzählte Malhotra IANS am Rande der beginnenden Lakme Fashion Week.

"Unter den Männer denke ich, dass es Shahrukh Khan ist. Er kann alles.", sagte der Designer, der zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe geschlagen hat, als er Kajol und Preity Zinta den Catwalk in seiner Show entlanglaufen ließ am Anfang der Woche.

Es war das erste Mal für Preity und ein Novum für Malhotra, der selten an großen Fashion Events wie der Fashion Week teilnimmt, aber allen die Show gestohlen hat mit seiner Herbst/Winter Kolektion, genannt "Freedom", die er als Luxus Diffusion bezeichnet.
Seine neue Kollektion für Männer und Frauen wurde inspiriert durch die Seelenbefreiende Philosophie des Sufismus.
Malhotra ist der Meinung, dass indische Mode weit kommen wird.
"Indische Mode ist im Moment in einer Aufwärtsbewegung. Wir werden auch bald ganz oben sein. Was wir brauchen sind Investoren und Arbeitskräfte.", sagte er.
"Es hat alles begonnen mit dem Kitsch-Look des indischen Designs als der Rest der Welt sein Faible für Ganpatis, Agarbattis, Röcke und Spiegelarbeiten entdeckte. Indien wird Nummer eins sein in 5 Jahren und wenn nicht, dann wenigstens unter den Top-Five.

Malhotra, der auch Micheal Jackson eingekleidet hat, hat nur einmal in 1998 Mainstreammode gemacht und sich seitdem davon wegbewegt mit einer charakteristischen Brillanz.
Er ist der erklärte Liebling von Schauspielerinnen wie Karisma, Kareena Kapoor, Preity, Urmila Matondkar und Kajol genauso wie von Schauspielern wie Amitabh und abishek Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan und Ajay Devgan. Seine Liste an berühmten Kunden schließt auch Parmeshwar Godrej, Sheetal Mafatlal, Tina Ambani und Avanti Birla ein.

Auf die Frage ob seine häufigen Berufswechsel ein Zeichen sind, dass er sich schnell langweilt, antwortet er:"Nein, Wenn ich wirklich gelangweilt wäre würde ich einfach eine Sache aufgeben und eine andere starten."
"Aber hier bin ich und tue immer noch die Dinge, die ich auch schon in der Vergangenheit getan habe. Und ich liebe es wirklich immer noch." sagt der Stylist, der Urmila Matondkars berühmten Look in "Rangeela" genauso kreiert hat wie die Kleidung der Blockbuster "DDLJ" und "MHN", sowie sich in allen Filme von Karan Johar, inklusive "KHNH" und "K3G", für die Kostüme verantwortlich zeichnet.

Als nächtes kommt noch "Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna" hinzu, in dem Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji, Kiron Kher und Arjun Rampal mitspielen.

Sein Kommentar zu seinem Versuch im Filmbusiness Fuß zu fassen:"Ein Designer ist eine kreative Person. Ich fühle, dass ich noch viel mehr kann. Also warum sollte ich das nicht tun?"
"Der Film war in der Drehbuchphase als ich ein wenig Ärger hatte, weil das gesamte Cast durcheinander war. Also dachte ich, dass ich etwas komplett anderes machen und kurz über ein neues Drehbuch nachdenken sollte."
"Ich habe noch über überhaupt nichts nachgedacht, weder Besetzung noch Handlung. Das Drehbuch wird gerade geschrieben, deshalb sollte ich lieber nichts darüber erzählen."

Kehlkopfentzündung bei Aishwarya Rai diagnostiziert

Aishwarya Rai ist gerade in die Stadt zurückgekehrt, nachdem sie die Lorbeeren für ihren Tanzauftritt bei den Commonwealth Games bekommen hat. Vor kurzem hat sie ebenfalls einen Dreh in Rio de Janeiro mit Abishek Bachchan und Hrithik Roshan für Dhoom 2, in dem sie eine negative Rolle hat, beendet.
Und ihr ganzes Um-die Welt-Reisen hat sie jetzt sprachlos gemacht. Sprachlos, weil bei der Schauspielerin eine Kehlkopfentzündung diagnostiziert wurde! Die Welt-Tournee hat sie erschöpft und ihre Gesundheit strapaziert.
Deshalb musste die Schauspielerin auch den Dreh für J. P. Duttas "Umrao Jaan" in Lucknow verschieben. Allerdings erholt sich Aishwarya Rai rasch.
Erst vor ein paar Tagen wurde auch Karan Johar von einer Kehlkopfentzündung heimgesucht.

Dubai awaits Indian cine stars at IIFA Awards-2006

Indian cine stars will converge here in June to attend the seventh edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards -- a five-day extravaganza -- to celebrate the achievements of the industry. The City, which is fast becoming a favourite destination for Indian filmmakers, will host the event after London, Sun City, Genting Islands in Malaysia, Johannesburg, Singapore and Amsterdam. At the ''IIFA Awards 2005 '' in Amsterdam, it was announced that the Dutch city could again be the venue for the event the following year. Apart from Amsterdam, Dubai and Morocco were also in the run to woo the organisers of IIFA Awards. During his Dubai visit in 2003, IIFA's Brand Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan told The Gulf Today that Dubai was the ideal place to hold such events.

Shah Rukh Khan on a holiday

That superstar Shah Rukh Khan is a great father is known to all.

Whenever SRK is in Mumbai he makes it a point to drop his children to school and whenever he gets any free time from his hectic schedule, he makes it a point to spend it with his kids.

So in the upcoming summer holidays of his children, like any father, SRK has decided to take a break from Bollywood and go on a vacation.

SRK has hardly spent any time in home in the last few months.

First he was shooting for Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna in the US, and then he came home for a few weeks, only to fly out again to Malaysia for the shooting of Don .

So this summer, SRK has decided to spend the holidays with his kids.

London will probably be their holiday destination, it’s the favorite with his family and it’s also a great way to beat the Mumbai heat too.

Kabhi Alvida… team will join the Don in Malaysia.

What is common between the films Don and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna other than the fact that Shahrukh Khan is playing the lead role in both? Well quite a few things – both are multi-starrer, big budget films and will be shot in Malaysia.

While the unit of Don is already in Malaysia shooting important portions of the film, Karan Johar will soon be flying with his crew to shoot his film there. The reason being that Shah Rukh Khan, who is really busy with Farhan Akhtar’s Don can also shoot for Karan’s film without having to fly across countries. Speaking on the same Vishal Patel, CEO of Dharma Productions said, “Yes, we will be shooting a song and some scenes in Malaysia. The shoot will only need Shah Rukh Khan’s presence.”

Interestingly Malaysia seems to be the most sought after location for Bollywood films, off lately. Apart from Shahrukh, the other big Khan – Aamir is also in the country shooting the concluding portions of Kunal Kohli’s Fanaa.

Shah Rukh, Rani Mukherjee most popular actors for kids: Survey

When it comes to Indian kids, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee are the most popular actors, closely followed by Aishwarya Rai, according to findings of a survey conducted by a TV channel across 14 cities in India. In the "New Generations 2005" survey conducted by Cartoon Network among 8927 kids between 7-19 years, 20 per cent of the total kids voted for Shah Rukh Khan. Rani Mukerji emerged as the favourite actress with 16 per cent votes. The ranking is almost same among boys and girls. Among sportspersons, Sachin Tendulkar continues to be the Indian children's favourite with 41 per cent of kids (7-14 years) voting for him followed by Rahul Dravid at 13 per cent, Sourav Ganguly and Sania Mirza stood next at six per cent each, said Vice President, Research and Market Development, Turner International Asia Pacific Ltd, Duncan Morris. The survey, which provides an insight into Indian kids'' lifestyles, habits, preferences also found that Indian kids are becoming increasingly tech savyy - about 40 per cent of kids are computer users; mobile phones, VCD-DVD players can be found in at least 50 per cent of homes and 74 per cent aspire to own mobile phones with camera. Introduced in 1998, the fourth India specific survey also found that television is the dominant leisure activity for kids, nine in ten believe that they have an "active, healthy lifestyle; 40 per cent of the kids are movie goers and about 8 to 10 go out more with their families. Questioned about their top three favourite television genres, 79 per cent kids voted for cartoons, 34 per cent for sports and 31 per cent for movies.

Saif Ali Khan to perform with Preity Zinta at overseas show

Popular Indian actor Saif Ali Khan will join actress Preity Zinta in Bollywood's overseas show that begins Thursday in Dubai, a spokesman said.

Doctors had advised Khan to rest for three weeks after he underwent an appendicitis operation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last week. But Khan has decided to join the show called Heat that will also tour the United States and Britain.

Khan and Zinta will perform dance routines from their hit movie Salaam Namaste or'Hello, Hello. The show also features performances by actors Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen and Celina Jaitley.

Zinta had earlier said she would have to dance alone and drastically change her act since Khan needed to recuperate. Khan was shooting a television commercial in Kuala Lumpur when he complained of acute abdominal pain last week.


"The show would have gone haywire without Saif, so he decided to go ahead and join them," said a tour organizer, who asked not to be named because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media.

The movie stars are headed to the United States after they perform in Dubai. The first two shows are scheduled for San Francisco and Dallas over the weekend. The roadshow moves to Britain next month with Birmingham being the first stop.

Top Bollywood actors often take part in song and dance road shows during the summer that are popular among South Asians living in Canada, Britain and the United States.

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna , one of the most awaited movies of the year is on the verge of completion.

The movie, Karan Johar ’s venture into direction after a long hiatus, has the most exciting star cast including Shah Rukh Khan , Rani Mukherjee , Abhishek Bachchan , Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan .

‘KANK’ has been shot over the last couple of months in locations like New York and Mumbai. And now Karan is headed to Malaysia to shoot the remaining movie.

Karan spoke to reporters in Mumbai, where he said: “I will be going to Malaysia to shoot a song sequence there, and another schedule in July. Hopefully, I plan to release the film in August.”

However, before the movie’s release, Karan will go to Cannes Film Festival in May along with actress Preity Zinta.

Karan says he will utilize his trip to Cannes to tap the overseas market for ‘KANK’.

“I am having a stall at the film market there. I want to make the right contacts to tap the overseas distribution market and ensure that the Indian films are put on world map. I am also looking for overseas distribution rights for my film,” Karan said.

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna in a title controversy

Karan Johar's Shahrukh-starrer 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' is one of the most eagerly-awaited films of 2006. Although it is expected to release around August, the film already finds itself in a controversy. The bone of contention is the title. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury's Mind I Films is also making a film under the same name. The music of this film was launched in Delhi on Wednesday. The film's music has been composed by debutante music director Vivek. Kumar Sanu has sung the title track. Daler Mehndi was present at the occasion of the audio launch.

Apparently, Biswaroop had registered the title of his movie with the Registrar of the Trade Marks Department under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry in May 2005. He said, in India, only the Trade Marks Department has the right to register any product or film name. He denied allegations that this is a publicity stunt. In fact, he had even sent a legal notice to Karan Johar. While talking to the media, Biswaroop said that he too was looking forward to Johar's film, but under a different name. Karan Johar was unavailable for comment.

Salman Khan startet Welt-Tournee

Bollywood "Rocker" Salman Khan, Zayed Khan, John Abraham und Esha Deol haben angekündigt im April ihre grosse Welt-Tournee zu starten. Für alle mitwirkenden Stars ist es die erste Konzert-Tour überhaupt, ausser für Salman Khan. "Ich performe schon seit so vielen Jahren auf den verschiedendsten Bühnen der Welt, trotzdem bin ich immer noch sehr nervös, wenn ich einen Auftritt habe. Es könnte ja immer irgendetwas schief gehen", erläuterte Salman auf einer Pressekonferenz in Mumbai.

"Das ist eine wirklich grossartige Welt-Tournee und ich bin stolz, dass unser Bruder Salman mit dabei ist. Wir können alle noch so viel von ihm lernen", sagte Zayed Khan.

Tour Premiere mit dem knackigen Namen "Rockstars" wird am 13. April in Dubai sein. Danach gehts weiter nach England, USA und Canada. Über ein Besuch in Deutschland ist nichts bekannt.

Bollywood comic with Shahrukh, Rani and Aishwarya

Move over Archie, Amar Chitra katha and Tin Tin comics, a new comic book titled Bollywood is going to be created by Illustrated Comics, which is based in Singapore. Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Aishwarya Rai will be seen as the characters in this comic book.

The comic has been created so that readers are entertained, but through a different medium. The creators wanted a new but equally powerful medium. The format will be similar to that of Amar Chitra Katha and Superman comics. The basic premise of the comic is a love triangle sans song and dance sequences. King Khan will be playing a college student who has quiet a few internet friends, his girlfriend is an Indian Sports Star and Rani and Aishwarya add the glamour value.

The comic is a typical Hindi masala potboiler; it has the typical bollywood love triangle which is the usual trend in bollywood. However the makers will add some real life drama so that the readers are able to identify with the story. The target audience is the youth in India as well as NRI’s. There is a current craze for anything related to bollywood and the publishers hope to capitalize on this trend.

Bollywood will be making a new innings with this comic book. Until now they have always stayed away from this medium. Here’s wishing them luck and success in this new venture.

Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee paired together again

The cool duo, Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan have a great on-screen chemistry. Audiences loved this jodi, who set the screen on fire, in their movie Hum Tum. Now viewer’s wish to see them back together on-screen will be fulfilled. Only this time they have paired up for an advertisement. They will be seen together for the ad of Chevrolet’s mid-size car, Aveo.

The ad for Aveo has been conceptualized and written by Prasoon Joshi of McCann-Erikson who recently wrote the lyrics for Rang De Basanti. Saif Ali Khan, who is into cars in a big way, is very excited about doing the advertisement as he claims that “it is one of the coolest brands in the car segment.” The car is a mid-size sedan, which promises great performance and great mileage. The company wanted Saif and Rani to endorse their product, as these two bollywood icons are synonymous with style and substance. They also felt that viewers could connect with these stars on an emotional level and hence they wanted them to be their brand ambassadors.

Both these stars are on a roll with their films as well as ad endorsements. Rani has recently endorsed Anu Sarees in Kolkatta where she is seen gobbling phuchkas. The ad is akin to the scene in Parineeta where Vidya Balan and Sanjay Dutt are seen feasting on Phuchkas. The ad has been done by Pardeep Sarkar. She has earlier endorsed brands like Fanta, Munch and Dabur. Saif too has recently become the brand ambassador for Colgate Max Fresh toothpaste. He has also endorsed Lays potato chips, sodas and computers.

Saif Ali Khan’s forthcoming movies include Being Cyrus, Nehle Pe Dehla, Eklavya and Omkara. While Rani’s kitty includes Babul, Bajirao Mastani and Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna. This is the first time that Rani and Saif will be seen in an ad together and this is also the first time that either of them will be endorsing a car brand. We wish them all the very best for their forthcoming ads as well as films.

After the girls Priyanka and Kareena’s hit duo for the Pepsi caffechino ad, Pepsi has decided to do an ad with Priyanka, Kareena and Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh has endorsed quiet a few ads for Pepsi previously. The three charming stars have completed the ad for Pepsi at Madh Island and it is being positioned as Pepsi TV.

According to sources the estimated budget of the ad is 3.5 million and it is being done by choreographer Farah Khan and produced by Shahrukh’s company Red Chillies Entertainment. The basic concept of the ad is that whenever you are watching TV, you should have Pepsi in your hand.

Priyanka and Kareena were first seen together on screen in the film Aitraaz; in the movie they played two characters at loggerheads. However, in the current ad for Pepsi they seem to be having a real joyride. The ad too was directed by Farah Khan. The girls share a great chemistry on screen. Shahrukh, Priyanka and Kareena will also be seen together in Farhan Akhtar’s film Don.

Kareena has been working out for quiet a while now and even Priyanka has begun to train in martial arts recently for her film Don, the two ladies are looking gorgeous in Pepsi’s new video and they match each other step for step. Let’s hope that King Khan can match his step with theirs.

Kareena Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan in Ram Gopal Varma’s film

Kareena Kapoor will play the lead role opposite Shahrukh Khan in Ramgopal Varma’s film on time travel, titled ‘Time Machine’. Kareena was earlier seen with Shahrukh Khan in the film ‘Asoka’. They shared an amazing on-screen chemistry in this film.

Earlier, Ram Gopal Varma and Shahrukh Khan were in talks to do a film together, but unfortunately, things had not worked out. However, this time everything seems to be sorted out and the King Khan and Varma will definitely be working together. Now they have also finalized the female lead. Kareena Kapoor will star opposite Shahrukh. Currently the two actors are doing a film together, titled ‘Don’. Kareena plays the role of Helen in this movie and has only a cameo appearance.

Kareena has also done a Pepsi commercial along with Shahrukh and Priyanka Chopra. Kareena was earlier offered the lead role in Karan Johar’s ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ opposite Shahrukh Khan, but turned it down. The role was then given to Preity Zinta. Kareena was also supposed to do Harry Baweja’s film ‘Love Story 2050’ opposite debutant Harman Baweja. But she recently opted out of the film citing date problems. There was a lot of speculation on the reason for her walking out of the film. Now, once again speculation is rife that Kareena walked out of Harry’s film to do Ramgopal Varma’s film.

Kareena Kapoor will be seen in quite a few movies, she is doing Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Omkara’, which is a multi-starrer, she will also be seen with beau Shahid Kapoor in ‘Chup Chup Ke’ and finally Subhash Ghai’s ‘36 China Town.’ Let’s hope that the actress can create the same magic in Ramgopal Varma’s film that she shared on-screen with Shahrukh in ‘Asoka.’ We also hope that Kareena will finally deliver a much elusive box-office hit with so many films in her kitty.

Shah Rukh plays volleyball, Priyanka cheers on

During a day’s break in the shooting of Don in Malaysia, Shah Rukh Khan played volleyball on the beach in Langkawi.

Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar , along with Shah Rukh, Priyanka Chopra , Isha Koppikar and the film’s crew, has been shooting ‘Don’ in Malaysia. And in between all the hard work that the entire team has been putting in the making of the film, they did chill out during one-day break on the beaches of Langkawi.

Shah Rukh, along with the film’s crew, played volleyball at the beach, while Priyanka Chopra cheered on from a distance. Priyanka did not join the game.

But it was Isha Koppikar who showed the sporty spirit and joined the team opposite SRK. Isha was the only girl in the two teams.

And guess what? Isha did show a few powerful wrist shots and impressed SRK who later complimented her, saying she had “the shoulders of a basketball player.”

All in all, it was an even game between SRK and Isha’s team.

Priyanka only stood on the sidelines despite the fact that she has been working out for her role in the movie. Perhaps all the martial arts training she is undergoing to do her stunts in the movie has left the Chopra girl weary.

Meanwhile, SRK and Priyanka will shoot the song Paan Banaras Wala on May 13 in Malaysia. The song will be choreographed by Saroj Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan to play coach in new film

Bollywood's leading male actor, Shah Rukh Khan, will play the coach of a girls' field hockey team in a new Hindi film to be produced later this year.

The film is inspired by the 2002 crossover hit ``Bend It Like Beckham,'' in which the daughter of conservative Sikh parents living in London rebels against tradition by playing on a soccer team, the New Delhi Television web site said.

``Chak De,'' or ``Go For It,'' as the film is tentatively titled, deals with how Khan's character pushes a mediocre field hockey team to victory.

Director Shimit Amin is busy with preproduction work, while the casting director is looking for fresh faces for the hockey team. Auditions team members are over and a few names have been shortlisted, the web site said.

The girls selected for the film will have to undergo intensive two-month field hockey training.

Filmfare Magazine recently named Khan India's favorite and top-earning actor. He has appeared in more than 50 movies, including the blockbusters, ``Main Hoon Na'' (I'm Here), ``Kal Ho Naa Ho'' (Tomorrow May Never Come), ``Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'' (Sometimes Happiness, Sometimes Sorrow) and ``Devdas.''

Hrithik and Fardeen to cross the border

Accompanying Akbar Khan to Pakistan for the premiere of Taj Mahal will be Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, Fardeen Khan and probably Rekha too. Besides Bollywood stars, politicians like Ambika Soni and Minister of Cultural Affairs from Pakistan Javed Ashraf will also be part of this event. They will leave for Lahore on April 23. This premiere gains significance because it's after a gap of 41 years that a film from Bollywood will be screened in Pakistan.
Khan has received a letter from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh applauding him for his effort. “A day before the premiere (April 25) we have organised a private screening for President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad. That is when we expect to meet him,” says Khan. Some of the others going on this tour are Manisha Koirala, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha and Sanjay and Feroz Khan. Zayed Khan is trying to adjust his concert dates to attend the premiere. If Rekha goes along, she will be the goodwill ambassador for the event.

I.I.F.A. goes to Dubai this year

Last year, it was Netherlands. The year before, it was Singapore. And South Africa before that. The 7th International Indian Film Academy [I.I.F.A.] Awards will be held in Dubai this year.

Announcing this at a high-powered conference held at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai on Wednesday, April 19, Amitabh Bachchan [Brand Ambassador of I.I.F.A.] and Sabbas Joseph of Wizcraft revealed that the I.I.F.A. Weekend 2006 and the Idea I.I.F.A. Awards will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Department of Civil Aviation, Chairman of Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises Supreme Committees.

As always, the I.I.F.A. Weekend promises to be packed with action, with a film festival, the world premiere of a blockbuster Indian film and the F.I.C.C.I.-I.I.F.A. Global Business Forum.

The I.I.F.A. Weekend will be held from June 14 to 17, culminating with the glittering Idea I.I.F.A. Awards presentation ceremony on June 16 at the spectacular Airport Expo.

When Shah Rukh Khan had a pleasant surprise in Malaysia

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently had a pleasant surprise while shooting for Farhan Akhtar 's Don which is the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don (1978) .

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad last week paid a surprise visit to the sets of 'Don- The Chase Begins again' at the exclusive Four Seasons Resort in Langkawi in Malaysia.

For the stars of the film SRK, former Miss World Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor , it was indeed a matter of pride to have a former head of state of the country personally visit the sets of their film.

SRK, who essays the role done by Bachchan in the 1978 movie, took a break from shooting of the film to entertain Dr. Mahathir, trade sources said.

The sources said that during the brief meeting, both SRK and Dr. Mahathir expressed a mutual admiration for each other.

During his visit, the former Malaysian PM also had interactions with the film's producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Priyanka.

The unit of 'Don' has been shooting round the clock for the film in Malaysia for the last one month.

During the 70-day shooting schedule of the film in Malaysia, the unit will travel to 42 locations, including the Penchala Link, Kampung Baru and the Petronas Twin Towers.

Among the scenes to be shot during the schedule will be the classic number 'Khai Ke Paan Banaras Wala', filmed on Bachchan and Zeenat Aman in the original. In the sequel, the song, to be shot on May 13, will feature SRK and Priyanka and will be choreographed by Saroj Khan .

Also scheduled to be filmed is the song 'Yeh Mera Dil', being choreographed by Farah Khan for Farhan's version. The song, which was filmed on Bachchan and Helen in the original, features SRK with Kareena in the sequel.

According to Sidhwani, the sequel of 'Don' will have SRK playing a techno-savvy gentleman - 'James Bondesque' character with knowledge of all modern accessories and gadgets.

Even Priyanka is expected to indulge in some daredevil stunts and display her martial arts skills for the movie all by herself.

Kajol und Jatin-Lalit als Juroren bei Indian Idol 2

Das Final von Indian Idol 2 wird ein besonderes Ereignis aus mehr als einem Grund. Nicht nur Kajol hat zugestimmt, als Spezial-Jury-Mitglied teilzunehmen, es bringt auch die beiden Komponisten Jatin-Lalit zum letzten Mal zusammen.
Jatin und Lalit werden den beiden Finalisten Sandeep Acharya und NC Karunya den beliebten qawwalli Song aus dem kommenden Film Fanaa "Subhan Allah" beibringen.
Nebenbei bemerkt ist Fanaa auch der letzte Film bei dem Jatin und Lalit gemeintschaftlich die Musik gemacht haben. Danach werden die beiden Brüder getrennte Wege gehen.
"Also ist ist auf eine Weise Indian Idol eine gute Verabschiedung für Jatin-Lalit", sagte ein Sony-Sprecher zu IANS.
Der absolute Stargast am großen Final am Samstag ist Kajol, die sich die Kandidaten, die um die Krone der Schlagersänger kämpfen, ansehen und sie bewerten wird.
Karunya und Sandeep werden den Song Subhan Allah aus Fanaa singen. Und sie werden von 12 Indian Idol Finalisten bei einem Spezial-Auftritt begleitet.
Schauspielerin Isha Koppiker wird mit den beiden Finalisten an einer Song-and-Dance-Nummer teilnehmen.
Ein weiteres Highlight des Finales ist Alisha Chinai, die die erste live Aufführung von Kajra Re zusammen mit Sandeep und Karunya präsentieren wird.
Eine Menge Bollywood und Tv-Persönlichkeiten werden Teil des Finales sein, das vom 17. auf den 22. April für eine Live-Show um 8 Uhr verschoben wurde.

SRK, Sush, Bips to feature in Aadesh’s music video

Music director Aadesh Srivastava has composed a song for Subi Samuel’s Alag, and the video for it will feature Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Bobby Deol, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta.

What’s so special about the number? “The song has not been composed just for publicity. It tells us the journey of the hero in the film. The director wanted it to sound very different. Luckily for Subi Samuel, the actors agreed to do the song as they had a good rapport with him and he had done photo shoots with them when they started their career. The lyrics have been penned by Nusrat Badr,” says Aadesh.

Speaking about what he plans to do next, Aadesh says, “I am not satisfied as a music director. I still have a lot to do. I am looking forward to doing something different. I have a classical background and I am now planning to do something unique and huge. My next venture will feature a well-known personality.” Aadesh adds, “However, I can’t reveal the details right now. After my title track was plagiarised by some music directors, I am scared to even mention the details.”

Endlich ist es soweit - in wenigen Wochen sollen Fans des Bollywood Kinos und indischen Lifestyles ein Magazin in deutscher Sprache zu kaufen bekommen. Das Hochglanz Produkt mit dem wohklingenden Namen "ISHQ" soll im Stile der "Glamour" oder "Young" monatlich im deutschen Handel erscheinen und die indische Kinowelt mit ihren Stars und Filmen beleuchten, aber auch die immer populärer werdende indische Mode in Deutschland mit all ihren Beauty Elementen den Leserinnen und Lesern als Style Guide näherbringen. Ein Erscheinungsdatum soll möglichst bald festgelegt werden - eine Juni Ausgabe von ISHQ ist jedoch schon in Arbeit und soll als Highlight eine Cover Story über indiens grössten Star Shah Rukh Khan beinhalten.

Wer über "ISHQ" mehr erfahren möchte, kann sich im eigens dafür eingerichteten Forum schlau machen. Anmeldung ist völlig kostenlos..

When Shah Rukh Khan turned fight director

Recently, the fight directing skills of Shah Rukh Khan came to the fore in Malaysia on the sets of Don .

SRK supervised an action sequence to help co-star Boman Irani finish his scenes on time.

The unit, under director Farhan Akhtar was shooting at a mountainous locale near a resort in Langkawi.

It was a fight sequence between SRK and Boman (who plays Iftekhar’s role from Don (1978) ).

A prominent website quoted a source as saying, “The fight master that day was messing up scenes and wasn’t really doing well. Boman, on the other hand, was getting late to board a flight to Goa, where he was to shoot for Farhan’s production ‘Honeymoon Travels.’

“That’s when Shah Rukh pitched in and decided to do the shot divisions himself. Though there weren’t many scenes that day, it took several cuts. Shah Rukh explained to Boman about his scene, how he should enter the frame and stuff.”

It was then that the sequence was executed finally and Boman managed to board his flight on time.

Apart from SRK in the lead role of Amitabh Bachchan , ‘Don’ stars Priyanka Chopra in the role of Zeenat Aman , Kareena Kapoor in the role of Helen , Arjun Rampal in the role of Pran and Isha Koppikar as Don’s first girlfriend.

Doch, es ist in der Ausgabe Nr. 19.

Leider steht nichts neues drin. Ich schätze mal, es geht hauptsächlich darum, die Kino-Tournee von REM zu promoten. Wenn Interesse besteht (und das legal ist???), kann ich es gern einscannen.

Shahrukh favourite over Salman, Rani favourite over Ash

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won the favourite hero title over Salman Khan by a narrow margin at the Star Gold’s 'Sabsey Favourite Kaun 2006' awards in Mumbai on Sunday.

Rani Mukherjee won the favourite heroine title, defeating the strong competition from the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Kajol .

The winners were chosen for their popularity among fans and not for their acting performances in films.

The close battle between SRK and Salman proves again Shahrukh’s dominance as the true superstar of Bollywood and Salman’s un-dented popularity with the masses despite the controversies and the recent court sentences.

What was more surprising was that Ash could not emerge as the most favourite heroine over Rani despite the fact that Rani has not had any big release for many months now.

The host and hostess of the 'Sabsey Favourite Kaun 2006' awards were Arshad Warsi and wife Maria Goretti who kept the audience in splits with their one-liners.

As expected, Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Black was adjudged the 'Sabsey favourite film' not only by the classes, but the masses as well.

In the 'Sabsey favourite Naya Hero' (newcomer) the contest was close between Kunal Kapoor and Kunal Khemu . Kunal Kapoor from Rang De Basanti won in the end.

In the new actress category, Vidya Balan of Parineeta won the 'Sabsey favourite Nayi heroine'. Katrina Kaif was a close second.

Paresh Rawal won the 'Sabsey favourite Comic hero' award for the third year in a row.

The 'Sabsey Tez Sitara' award, given to a hero who has taken most strides in the past one year, went to John Abraham . He followed in the footsteps of Abhishek Bachchan , the last year's winner.

The event saw some stunning performances by Udita Goswami and Kunal Khemu, who performed on a medley of songs by Himesh Reshammiya.

Tanushree Dutta , Vinay Pathak and Suresh Menon of the 'Great Indian Comedy' show recreated the magic of all-time classic Hindi films such as 'Sholay', 'Amar, Akbar and Anthony' and 'Don'.

Fardeen Khan performed on the theme 'The many moods of Fardeen'. But the show-stopper was Hrithik Roshan , whose thrilling performance tracked his journey from Koi Mil Gaya to Krrish . This was also his first-ever stage performance based on 'Krrish'.

The awards ceremony will be telecast on Star Gold on May 14 at 20:00 hrs.

Mannat does not belong to Shah Rukh Khan

According to BMC records Shah Rukh Khan does not own his 26,400 sq ft home Mannat on Bandra Bandstand.

Mannat, as SRK calls it, still remains in the name of the trust from which the Bollywood superstar bought the bungalow in 2001.

King Khan bought the bungalow from the trustee Nariman K Dubash for Rs 13.32 crore.

But municipal reports state otherwise. It says that that the property is still in the name of Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust.

Since Dubash is the assessee of the trust, the valuation of the property and property tax bill is in his name.

SRK however refused to comment on this issue. But a source close to the actor told Midday, "It was not Shah Rukh´s job to check the documents. He is a busy man. He therefore appointed a legal adviser to manage the property deal."

The BMC has advised SRK to transfer the property in his name as he could land up him in trouble in future if he wants to carry out structural repairs or alterations on the property. The transfer procedure takes around 45 days.

SS Mane, superintendent of assessment, BMC, said, "We are not going to insist that Shah Rukh Khan transfer the property in his name as we are only concerned with recovering property tax."

However he adds, "As of now, there is no outstanding tax on the bungalow."

After much speculation, the title of Vishal Bharadwaj’s next film, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello has finally been decided upon. Among options like O Saathi Re and Issak, the winner is Omkara. And most of the cast and crew members are happy with the choice. In the beginning, the makers were quite unsure about the most suitable title. And so a contest, seeking the public’s opinion was launched. Approximately 25 lakh people, the world over voted. And more than 80 per cent of them opted for Omkara.

Mangat is happy about the title since they always wanted a title beginning with the alphabet ‘O.’ This title was also the first choice of director Vishal Bharadwaj, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma. The other title which was quite a favorite among others was Issak. It was the title that other members of the cast like Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi wanted. Well, we’re sure it should not matter now. After all it was the bard himself who said that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet!

@ShahRukh70 Ich versuche es zu Übersetzen. Nagelt mich aber nachher nicht fest, wenn was falsch ist. Mein englisch ist auch nicht in der Meisterklasse. Hier also eine grobe Übersetzung.

Also, im großen und ganzen geht es darum, daß SRK sein Haus/Mannat nicht gehört. Er hat das Haus vom Verwalter Nariman K Dubash gekuaft. Aber Reporter behaupten, daß das Mannat Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana gehört habe. SRK lehnte jeglichen Kommentar ab. Ein enger Vertrauter von SRK meinte nur, daß es nicht SRK´s Job gewesen wäre, die Papier zu überprüfen. Man hat ihm nur gesagt, das er alles regeln soll, falls demnächst Reperaturen oder ähnliches anstehen sollten. Das war es im Großen oder ganzen. Falls mein Englisch mich nicht im Stich gelassen hat.

04.05.06 Schlacht um den Titel von 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' beginnt

Karan Johar's nächstes großes Werk 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' ist vor seiner Fertigstellung in Schwierigkeiten gekommen.
Normalerweise sind alle Arten von Titeln inklusive der der Filme, bei Markenzeichen-Behörden registriert. Wie auch immer, es gibt eine Praktik, wie auch Filme bei Film-Behörden registriert werden, das ist die Indian Motion Picture Assocation (IMPA).

Momentan wurde der selbe Titel eines Films 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' bei zwei verschiedenen Behörden durch zwei verschiedene Produzenten registriert.

Während Johar seinen Titel bei IMPA registriert hat, hat ein gut bekannter Autor, genannt "Erinnerungen-Mann", Biswaroop Roy Chaudhary, den selben Titel unter dem Markenzeichen-Gesetz von 1999 registriert.

Johar sagt, daß er seinen Film August diesen Jahres fertigstellen will, Chaudhary gibt an, daß er Johar nicht erlauben wird, diesen Titel zu nutzen. Wie auch immer, die Regierungs-Behörden wundern sich, wie IMPA Titel registrieren kann, dabei ihnen einen großen Einnahmen-Verlust beschert und ihre Autorität untergräbt.

Kürzlich sagte Chaudhary, als er über seinen Film sprach: "Mein Film ist ein musikalischer Tribut, der das Publikum ermuntern soll, eine positive Einstellung zu pflegen und an seine Träume zu glauben."

Seinen Standpunkt darlegend, sagte er, daß der Film davon handelt, festen Glauben darin zu haben, seine Träume zu erreichen.

Laut Quellen aus der Filmindustrie hat Chaudhary per Nachricht von Johar eine Widergutmachung von 100 Millionen Rs. verlangt. Er bestreitet, daß das ein Publicity-Trick ist.

Tatsächlich fügt er hinzu, daß der "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna"-Titel mehr zu seinem Film paßt als zu dem des Gegners. Er fragt sich, ob die Anhänger der Filmindustrie Johar überzeugen werden, zu seinen Gunsten nachzugeben.

Chaudhary argumentiert auch, daß Johar ein großer Produzent ist und eine große Riege von Stars um sich hat, wie Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, und Arjun Rampal, so daß er es sich leisten kann, seinen Titel zu ändern und trotzdem besser fährt als sein Film mit dem Titel "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna".

Werden die Bollywood-Produzenten die Sache außerhalb der Gerichte klären, ist das eine 1-Million-Dollar-Frage?

Die Regierungsbehörden sind gleichermaßen einbezogen, da sie viele Einnahmen verlieren, wenn sie der IMPA erlauben, Registrierungen von Titeln durchzuführen. Sie behalten diesen Fall ständig im Blick.

Shah Rukh fires his secretary?

It seems that Shah Rukh Khan's secretary, Sushma, asked her boss for an unreasonable wage increase but the superstar's immediate reaction was to turn it down.

Negotiations were not very successful and the buzz is that the starry Sushma was fired by the boss!
